Before Submitting a Document for Recording

County Recorder offices have specific requirements for documents presented for recording. Depending on the document and county, requirements may include:

  • Original signatures
  • Proper notarization or acknowledgment
  • Return-address information
  • Assessor’s Parcel Number
  • Transfer tax information
  • Preliminary Change of Ownership Report
  • Legible text, signatures, notary seals, and attachments

The County Recorder makes the final determination as to whether a document is acceptable for recording.

The Document Diva is not a law firm and does not prepare legal documents or provide legal advice. Documents submitted for recording should be complete and ready for filing.
